I now have Mal's answers to Peter's question. I had suspected Auckland
waterfront, but a search didn't find it.

Tram stop upgrade - Stop 126 City Road-Light Rail Upgrade in South
Melbourne.
Service changes will apply on Route 96 from 2.45 Saturday 9 December until
the last tram on Wednesday 20 December.
Route 96 will operate as Route 96a, with buses replacing trams between Stop
125 Clarendon St Junction and Stop 138 Luna Park. Stop 139 Acland St will
be closed.
Buses will stop at the footpath near existing platform stops where possible.
Stop changes will apply.
Replacement bus services will be accessible. If you require assistance on
your journey please ask our Customer Service staff for help.
Alternative travel options: Route 3a, 12 or 16 trams between the City & St
Kilda.
During the work, trams & replacement buses will operate to the normal
frequency, however they may not arrive at the scheduled time. We suggest you
allow extra time for your journey.
YT and PTV are upgrading the 126 tram stop in preparation for the new
vertical primary school in the Ferrars Street Education and Community
Precinct.
Stop 126 will receive a new accessible ramp; stairs will be added to the
Railway Place side of the stop, providing a pedestrian gateway to the local
area via Railway Place.
The platforms will be upgraded to make it a wider, level-access tram stop.
The shelter will include new led lighting, platform furniture, passenger
information displays and audio bollards with information on tram services.
Preliminary work will commence Thursday 16 November and will involve
equipment and material deliveries and preparation of the site. This work
will continue as needed from 9am and 5pm between Monday and Friday in two
locations.
Railway Place between Meaden Street and City Road.
Whiteman Street car park opposite the tram stop.
The projected finish date has been extended to 5am Thursday 21 December 2017
Major work will occur at the tram tracks between Railway Place and Whiteman
Street.
Works will commence at 4.30 on Saturday 9 December and will continue 24
hours a day until 5.00 Thursday 21 December.
Route 96 services will will operate as Route 96a, with buses replacing trams
between Stop 125 Clarendon St Junction and Stop 138 Luna Park. Stop 139
Acland St will be closed.
Motorists Railway Place will be closed between City Road and Meaden Street
on 9 and 10 December and reopen Monday 11 December.
The carparks in Railway Place and Whiteman Street will be closed during the
work from 16 November to 20 December. Around 20 car parks on Railway Place
will be permanently removed to make room for the new accessible ramp and
stairs to the tram stop.
City of Port Phillip is proposing permanent changes to the configuration of
Railway Place, on-street parking spaces and streetscapes in the precinct.

Pedestrians The work zone will be fenced off for safety. Signage will direct
pedestrians and cyclists to alternative paths during the major work.
