Tie rods Was: Re: R/R1 and P/O capacity and tie rods

Dudley,
I referred to tie rods in http://tdu.to/m/246323/re-adelaide-track-laying http://tdu.to/m/246323/re-adelaide-track-laying in a comparison of the track construction methods used for the recent Jetty Rd and North Tce works in Adelaide. Both are mass concrete but sleeperless constuction (unlike Melbourne) and thus require means of supporting the rail above the track bed and of setting the gauge prior to concreting. The North Tce track http://tdu.to/i/56500?size=d http://tdu.to/i/56500?size=d is supported by the orange tie bar and its legs and is clamped to the rail foot to establish the gauge.

At Jetty Rd http://tdu.to/i/53817 http://tdu.to/i/53817 the track was supported on concrete pavers and tie rods between the rail webs set the gauge.
