The interesting thing with the Geelong "war paint" was that the outlines of the stripes were marked as a gouge in the panel prior to painting. This was evident on Ballarat No 42 when it was at Bylands before its disposal as the paint faded and the rust took over. When the car was transferred to Ballarat initially the front ends were repainted and the dash canopy lights removed, only to be reinstated less than 10 years later. Cannot understand why the ex-Geelong cars that went to Ballarat and Bendigo did not retain those lights at the time, even as a trial!
