Re: Airport West - late 70s

It has been anounced that another airline, after Qantas gave up, is going to have a crack at operating passenger services from Illawarra Airport (at Albion Park Rail, a suburb of Wollongong) - to Brisbane and Melbourne.

I note that the Melbourne service goes to Essendon where the public transport options are bleak, to say the least! (Illawarra airport has a train station, no less). Not that the old tram line went anywhere near the passenger terminus, but it's a long walk to the current tram stop, with a footbridge with stairs to cap it off. Definitely not one for a suitcase!

Not that I expect any of these airline services to last.
