Toorak Rd West progress
  Mal Rowe

The tracks are all in place in Toorak Rd West, but not yet levelled and
ready for concrete.

First view looks East from near St Kilda Rd - along the former slip lane
/ parking area.

Second pic is a little further east along the new track.

This track is at the final level and a kerb is being installed to keep
motor cars off the tram tracks. This should improve punctuality a little.

Third pic is near the eastern end of the works looking back to the west,
and showing the new crossover at Millswyn St in place.

This track will also be lifted - up to about the level of the access
cover in the centre of the pic.

Overall, the result will be quite a thick layer of concrete from current
excavated base up to the top of the sleepers - but nothing like the
current Sydney practice.

Mal Rowe - who can see that this change will bring some improvement to
route 58.
