Here's today's pic of the rail in North Terrace, just near the station.

It's quite hard to see corrugations, so I have fiddled with the contrast and gamma settings to make it a bit more obvious.
No telephoto this time, and you may have to hold your head at the right angle to see the pattern!

It seemed to me that the reserved track was better - and all the worst corrugations were in concrete embedded rail near intersections.

Mal Rowe - who thinks that Melbourne's crushed rock and bitumen treatment and the Sydney / Gold Coast flexible rail padding may reduce the problem
