Today, Sunday October 9th, marked the re-opening of a section of the
Auckland Dockline Tram in the Wynyard Quarter.
It was very fortuitous timing for my visit on the way to the COTMA
conference in Christchurch.
We had the first journey on their 257 (formerly Melbourne X2 466).

Even though it's a very short line (only 500m long in truncated form) it
was popular with visitors to this emerging housing, commercial,
recreation and entertainment precinct.
At the car barn was Melbourne 881 - also in an approximation of Auckland
livery, but retaining its Melbourne number.

The car is resplendent and the new half drop windows give it the
elegance of the original SW6 (850).
I even like the colour.

Once again, I am very grateful to James Duncan and his colleagues on the
Dockline Tram for another delightful day in NZ.
Mal Rowe - having a great time in NZ - without one bungey jump yet
