Re: New Trams Melbourne not cutting it!
  Richard Youl

Many a time I had to drive a W for around 4 hours at night when the radio said it was 6° outside - and no doubt in the cab. Not my idea of fun, but a few zealots in the depot demanded this continue as the 16 to St Kilda Beach was a tourist line and 'tourists love Ws'. I bet not at 6° though.

Old trams kill tramways, as the Os and Ps helped kill Sydney, without even digressing into the old rubbish running around England into the 1950s.

Who needs air conditoning and heating anyway , are we all a lot of softies now? Wouldn't it be nice to have W again through a Melbourne winter and again when it's 35C in summer? - You bet, - plenty of fresh air?

We want our old much loved trams back, And run the (few remaining) Z's,the A's and the B's until they fall apart from rust, and we must have a conductor on every car too. (might get a few more paying their fare, that would be a bonus?) And reserve drivers each with his own conductor to be always standing by at each depot and a five minute interval service from every terminus around the clock!
