The Ballarat Begonia Festival.
  Peter Bruce

G'day all, the tramway carried more than 8200 passengers over the three
days of the Festival which is held on the Victorian Labour Day long
weekend. Apparently this was a record, it certainly felt like it.

In the attached picture single trucker 28 is about to become the fifth car
in service following 671 north towards St. Aidan's Drive.

As well as carrying record numbers of passengers the motor traffic on
Wendouree Parade was intense with drivers prowling for very scarce parking
spaces apt to turn abruptly across the track as well as which parked
vehicles often backed out across the track likely in the path of an
approaching tram. It could be a bit hairy!!

I would certainly encourage all to pay us a visit next year. We try to make
all welcome busy or not.
