Fwd: 045 Friday Afternoon Pictures 5 December 2008 - Melbourne Trams
  Richard Youl

These rather fine photos are from Robert Wilson who ISTR previously had no problem with his photos
being posted on TDU.

In the 3rd and 4th views you will note the overhead temporary lights indicating that track
renewal is about to occur. Any of our historians may thus be able to date these photos.

I could see no sign of the W5 mentioned in his notes.

Regards,

>> Welcome to those people who will be receiving my FAPs for the first time today and to those who have been added to the list in recent weeks. I hope you will gain enjoyment from my weekly blurbs.

>>

>> The last few weeks have featured trains so today, for a changer I have included a series of shots of Melbourne trams in colour. Sorry that one is a little out of focus but I thought it was worthy of inclusion as it shows an unmodified W5 class tram and driver with cap on.

>>

>> If we think that some of today's tram track is not as it should be, perhaps the shots of the track in Gordon Street Footscray may bring us back to reality. More memories may be jogged with the Batman Avenue shot at night and the shot of the W2, and cars near The Harp Hotel at East Kew.

>>

>> I have a few more Newport Workshops shots I wish to share with you so it will be back to steam next week.
