Trolleybus in AKL

The Auckland trolleybus looks to me to be one of the 40 BUT ETB1s that had Saunders-Roe bodies. They entered service between 1954
and 1957 with the first three bodies being fully built up at the Beaumaris factory on Anglesey in North Wales. These three were
shipped in grey primer and the exteriors were finished off after arrival in NZ. The balance was supplied in PKD form, and they were
constructed in Auckland under the supervision of Saunders-Roe engineers.

These trolleybuses were 8'6" wide and 35' long and the interior trim was not unlike an RT in terms of window surrounds trim and also
roof panels. Saunders-Roe built 250 RT bodies for London Transport.

* Photo was obtained by John Leitch in New Zealand a couple of weeks ago, and the photo was taken in Auckland probably during the
1960s or 70s, to judge by the Ansett advertisement.
