I'm not a train buff and since retirement 20 years ago have not been on a suburban train at all (after 40 years of daily train commuting) so am quite behind the times with Siemens, Xtrapolis or anything else. . Nonetheless I do recall when a 'blue train' was first on the Ringwood line. We were out with our eldest daughter then in a pram and we made a mad dash to Glenferrie station to catch it -- had sighted it on its inward journey and calculated likely return time. That would have been 1957.
