It would be fair to say the demographics of Melbourne have changed considerably since the "good old days" and this must surely have impacted on the tram network?

What would be examples of where services are better patronised than they were, say, in the days of our beloved MMTB?

And where patronage has declined?

The other major change that I have noticed over the years is that the peak hour virtually extends through the day with the real peaks being more at school time?

The motor traffic to and from schools is amazing; few staff would travel by public transport and so many students are driven to school and picked up.

The traffic jams at school time right across Melbourne (both in tram and non-tram areas) are incredible.

An impact on tram enthusiasts is that the road traffic makes photography difficult at most times of the day.

But it seems it is rare to see an enthusiast out taking photographs of trams.
