The blackout paint looks to be very white. Did trams run without headlamps
turned on, with the white band providing some visibility in darkness?
IIRC canopy dash lighting was used in blackout conditions. Wouldn't
headlamps be hooded in the blackout era?
My guess from the cars and from the outfits is that the photo is closer to
1949.
