I grew up in Mosman in the 1950s when the trams were still seemingly
everywhere in Sydney (or at least the parts I got to go to with my
parents)... except for Manly/Warringah, where there was clear evidence
of trams tracks and other "trammy" things around but no longer any
trams. At that stage of my life it was a real puzzle to me.... why
had the trams been taken away at Manly?

As time passed the trams disappeared from North Sydney too... I was
devastated when my father told me they would stop! After that I still
was able to ride in the South Eastern lines from time to time, from
the Moore Park area to Clovelly, on Ps, until that line closed and
finally just to Maroubra or La Perouse on Rs or R1s along mile after
mile of private right of way.

Cheers,

Bill
