Well the pure optical viewfinder went out with the demise pretty much of
film cameras. The electronic viewfinder IS available on certain Fuji cameras
that are not pocket types but also are not very expensive (in the $200
range) and even the HS10 - did I mention that it is a great camera - is
under $500 but it is the size of a film SLR. viewfinders on silver box point
and shoot cameras disappeared when the public (or so the manufacturers say)
demanded larger screens. Something had to give and it was the viewfinder.
Now having been out of the photo industry for 3 months probably a lot has
changed and the HS10 may well be superceded by an even better camera but not
a DSLR. Oh and it also looks as like I don't have much time for OEM cameras
- well it has a lot to do with the attitude of the suppliers towards the
smaller shops of which I was one during the happy film days but ceased to be
after the elcheapo cut price print digital days.
