Try this, Kym.

I'm a truck and bus writer and get all sorts of stuff like this. I also have lots of shots of single ended o-Bahn trolley buses next to skinny European trams and shots I took from a helicopter during the O-Bahn opening in Adelaide.

Cheers,

I haven't lived in Adelaide for over 3 years, but when I was there, it seemed to work well, despite the fact that it should have been a light rail extension of the Bay line (Thanks Piggy Tonkin and Transport Minister Wilson!)

Seriously though, the use of buses has enabled the routes around the Tea Tree Gully area to be modified easily as the suburbs have increased in size. The 'line' carries good numbers all the time, and it seems to work - thus you don't hear about it - no news is good news.

Considering trials that have been undertaken elsewhere in the world with dual powered vehicles, the O'bahn would lend itself well to trolley bus operation along the track and diesel/cng operation in the suburbs.

A panto-equipped O'bahn bus - now that would be something to see!

How's that O-bahn running over there, Kym?

I never hear anything about it.

I was there at the opening.

It seemed to work well.

Then I heard about it when it was extended.

But nothing since, except that some Scania buses (?) had guide wheels fitted.

City Depot fan, at the time the photo was taken, was bitumen covering over jarrah wood blocks.

In the early 80's, the fan was excavated and re-set in concrete to about halfway up the rail, then bitumen to the top.

Kym
Was the old City Depot fan concreted (both in the used and unused
halves of the depot), or was that simply really faded asphalt?

Also I take it H1.381 is either going into the depot or going on a
run somewhere due to the motorman changing the points?
