Re: VR electric street railway St Kilda Brighton 5ft 3in single truck cars

I was under the impression that there were 8 . I saw a procession of a number of them along Ormond Rd in 1938, and also on occasion saw one of their number shunting at Dickens St in the evening peak. Perhaps I'm incorrect re number 8.

Subject: [TramsDownUnder] VR electric street railway St Kilda Brighton 5ft 3in single truck cars

The following outline information regarding the single truck cars may be of interest:

1: converted to scrubber car. Scrapped.

2: scrapped following a rear on with a bogie car in 1939

3: sold 1956 (retained rattan saloon cross seats until the end?)*

4: sold 1956*

5: sold 1954 to Box Hill (any further information/)

6: sold 1956 to Brunswick. Last used on AETA tour in May 1956.

7: Sold 1957. Last used as a Christmas tram in 1954.

It is understood the last time a single truck car was used in regular service was after a flood in 1953.

One car* (either 3 or 4) may have been sold to Janefield.

Any further information or photos shared on TDU would be appreciated.
