Like Paul most of us have large photo/negative and slide collections (not only tramway) that need digitisation, I shudder at the though of the price of many of the good scanners needed for the job but totally cringe when I see the prices charged by professionals.

I struggle to justify the cost of good scanner for what is essentially a one of project as I no longer use film.

I also look at the large pile of prints packed away around the house and wonder if I will ever have the time to scan them all when added to a full time business as well as everything else currently occupying life.

Perhaps there is a possibility of some semi retired people investing in the scanner and then once their collections have been scanned offsetting the investment they made in offering a scanning service to others.
