Mal is correct. 43 survived complete but derelict and the first task
of the newly formed THS was to restore it and run it on the last
remaining section of uncovered track, in Papanui Rd, in September 1964,
10 years after closure. This put the Society on the map and attracted
a good number of new members, including myself.

The attached pic was taken in 1964 - the tram has since been
"re-restored", to a much higher standard - our quality (including that
of some of our photography!) has much improved since the 1960s.

I think this may be the vehicle in question - looking rather
better
these days than it did in 1964.
