This photo turned up
among the copious notes; I believe it was at a gathering at the Melbourne home
of the late Jack Richardson on the occasion of the 1955 AETA convention to mark
the opening of the Bourke Street tramway.

Note that people are
drinking cups of tea! Presumably no coffee or red wine in those
days?

Noel (Reed) and
others may be able to assist with the identification of some of the people;
the copious
notes suggest (left to right):

Maybe Leon
Marshall-Wood [deceased], unknown, maybe David Keenan [deceased], Ken Craven
(holding tea cup), Jack Richardson (Partially obscured), unknown, unknown (the
lad in school uniform), unknown, Ronald E Murray (holding tea cup) [deceased],
unknown (partially obscured), Keith Kings, unknown (partially obscured), unknown
(hands in pocket), Ian Brady, unknown (partially obscured [wearing spectacles]) ,
unknown (with the moustache), unknown.

The gentleman with
the moustache (second from the right) appears in several of the group photos
from the era. Who is/was he?

Sadly, many of the people are no longer with
us.

I wonder if other
TDU readers, like me, get as much enjoyment out of the old (tramway) "people"
shots as picture of the trams themselves?
