Mick you are correct of course. You need to remember in those days the AETM did not have any H type trams at the museum. The museum was comparing how much power it used to the other trams there at that time.

360 and 362 came some time later. The main problem was the braking. In addition it was a one of car that made it unpopular. As well to a fair degree it was a bus body on tram trucks.

It needs a bit of work to make it presentable and operational at St Kilda again.

Thats interesting. 381 has the same equipment as the H class, but is a bit
heavier.
It shoudnt make much difference to power consumption.

When Ron Scholten & I visited St Kilda 
in 1974 we had a trip down the line in 381.
In addition to the comments made in TDU about
381, John Radcliffe said that this tram had a very high current consumption
too.
