LaTrobe Valley Tramways No.1
  Andrew Cook

Hi all,

Here are some shots I took around Morwell, in the LaTrobe Valley, Victoria, on Sunday, 30 January, 1972.

Although not street tramways, they could be described as light railways.

The photos are:

04157_APM Whitcombe loco. No. 1 at the Maryvale Exchange Sidings, Morwell. Note the Paper Mill employee standing on the loco.
combing his hair for the camera! A smarty pants me thinks or possibly a professional clown?

04159_Victorian Railways' electric loco. L 1161 on an up Traralgon passenger train passes APM Whitcombe No. 1 in the Maryvale Exchange Sidings.

04160_APM Whitcombe loco. No. 1 on the Maryvale tramway after departing from the Exchange Sidings.

04161_APM Whitcombe loco. No. 1, ditto, nearing the Paper Mill. This area is now covered in pine trees. Trains on the tramway had no brake vans.

Today, Qube Logistics operate trains to the Maryvale Paper Mill, that run through from Melbourne.

Cheers, Andrew (who thinks that comb was working hard through the brylcream).
