I scanned these photos to answer a question which was asked on TDU in March,
covering Blackbull, Croydon-Normanton, and the TP trailers which have gone
there. At the time, I posted a Blackbull photo.

I have now scanned a photo of a TP, and scanned the RM which was with it.
The enclosed photos show RM1804-TP1801 at Mt Chalmers and at Rockhampton, on
Tues.29.8.78.

My 1963 list is messy, as it records railmotors by the division in which
they are based. I am not sure if Brian's book has been published yet.
All are 18xx.
Southern RM 3, 8, 11, 16 & 19; TPL 1 & 2; TP 9, 10, 17 & 18.
Central RM 12 & 15; TPL 13 & 14.
Townsville RM 20 & 23; TPL 21 & 22
Cairns RM 4 & 7; TPL 5 & 6

This covers 1801-23, leaving mystery RM1824.

That adds up to six original RM-TP-TP-RM pairs. Was the TPL a later
conversion? Larger van?.
I must have ridden one to Kuranda in 1956.
In my 1968 tour, I rode one on a Cairns - Gordonvale service.
I am sure that Mackay had three types for its three routes.
They must have been active on the Brisbane southside, but I have no memory.
Most of my rides away from Brisbane were in 2000s.
In 1974, I rode a pair of 1800s on a Ravenshoe - Cairns service.
In 1978, I rode an 1800 pair from Yeppoon to Rockhampton & return (the
photos with this post).

They were fitted with 2+3 low-back tipover seats. I always pitied the
marching girls who chartered a set for an overnight trip from Brisbane to
Rockhampton & return for a competition weekend: very little sleep would be
possible. Perhaps, as at 'slumber parties', there would have been very
little sleep anyhow.

For TDU: I omitted Black Rock (Vic.) from the original reply. I never got
there by tram, but I did head there one weekend with Leon's book, and
photographed every 'now' view to align with the photos in the book. An even
greater time has elapsed since that day, so the exercise could/should be
repeated.
