Re: Sydney Metro
  Prescott

Don't worry, it's just the TfNSW spin doctors tripping themselves up again.
It's actually the world's deepest railway scissors crossover between
Chatswood and Castle Hill, NSW, Australia. Now that IS a truly awesome
global achievement!

Tram gunzels are not immune from this. I remember with amusement
discussions with the relevant curator at the Powerhouse Museum who had
uncritically swallowed what the enthusiasts had told her about the 626 O
class trams being the largest class of tramcars in the world and put that
in the museum's official description. I volunteered the information that
that was well short of the more than 14,000 Tatra T3s for starters and
there were probably others.

So she went back to the enthusiasts who volunteered the information that
the O's then must have been the largest single class of cars in any city in
the world and that went into the official description. So back I went to
her with the suggestion that that was well short of the more than 2,000 T3s
in Moscow - just for starters yet again.

We'll get there by hook or by crook. I guess the message is, don't listen
to amateur transport enthusiasts without doing your own research to check
it out.
