There was a photo circulated on here some time ago of Adelaide with a very similar road layout (now I think much altered). I wouldn’t know how and where to start looking. This may trigger something?

Mal,

If it is Adelaide, it has me puzzled. The skyline in the distance could be the Mt Lofty range. In that case the view is looking south east. The steep slope in the middle of the photo suggests North Adelaide, which is the only elevated ground close to the City with such an open view and in the proximity of former tram lines. However I can't identify the precise location at present. It could be between O'Connell St and the present Women's and Children's Hospital and I know that the road layout in that vicinity changed in the early part of the 20th Cent.

The attached pic from the SLV collection has no location details.

However, It obviously has a tram line and tramway poles.

So who can help me and the SLV to determine the location?

Mal Rowe, who thinks the poles look like Adelaide poles
