Thanks. That’s it alright. I just could not remember where on the block it was.

I did get inside once, possibly while on the job and one thing I especially remember was that under a bench towards the north end of the shed there was a great stack of pressed metal overhead frog pans, the old traditional type.

In fact I think there were 2 stacks, one of the usual V shape and around 18” high and a smaller stack of diamond crossing ones.

I wonder if COTMA or a museum got them, or whether the scrapyard got them instead.

Incidentally into the 1990s, one of these was still in use on the main line, in fact the southbound exit of the loop at South Melbourne Football ground.

One evening it fell down (I wonder who picked it up? 😉) and R6 had to go to Coburg to get a spare. Maybe an inspector had to remain on site to guide the poles through in the meantime. I can’t remember that far back.
