Take a look inside Southbank depot when brand new.
Since then it has had the maintenance section section increased by 4 extra roads and the former wheel grinder and shed disappeared when the depot was expanded a few years ago.
This may interest you also:
There are two wheel lathes. One at Preston Workshops and one at Southbank. Southbank is based on 5 road and gets regular use!
There is a new maintanence regime in place where there will be three super depots doing all the major servicing. Southbank, Preston Workshops and Malvern. All other depots will do minor maintanence with a smaller number of mechanics at those depots as required. Preston will do all E class servicing and I assume B2 trams, Southbank C class, W class and I assume other A, B and Z3. Malvern will doing Combino and I assume Glenhuntly B2 and Z3. I'm not 100% sure on the new setup but that will give you an idea.
