Re: Tram Depot and a Casino

.. . . and here's a happy snap taken on the old Kodak Instamatic camera of Y 161 on an up switch to Flinders Street near those curves, taken during a lunch-break from work on 12-9-1969.

Cheers,

Andrew.

Clarendon Street. Note the alignment of the Port Melbourne line bridge - not parallel with the St Kilda line bridge. That is because the Port Melbourne line went straight through the middle of what became the Montague Goods Yard. For the construction of the suburban platforms at Spencer Street, the Shipping Shed was relocated to Montague and the Port Melbourne line had to be moved to the eastern side of the yard thus the odd looking curves in the photograph (and also out of sight here; the curves at Inglis Street.

Two car swing door inbound from St Kilda dating from way back in 1970 - the exact date escapes me at the moment. The tram depot and the casino you ask; well it is in the middle of the casino and the goods yard in the rear right (Montague) is now Southbank Depot. Boy has the area changed since these happy days.
