modifications done to the wheels and other bits welded to them when used as
such. The STM purchased the pair many many years ago.

Then they were in the old site fire, which got hot enough that
metallurgical damage would have occurred. (The crystal structure of the
steel would have changed). This means it's doubtful they could ever have
been repaired and used under a trafficable tram.

They were then sold to Warringah Council for the 1753 project and were
fully cosmetically restored before going under the tram.

From what I've seen in photos, it will talk a critical eye to spot
'problems' with the restoration.
