Launceston 12
  Mal Rowe

This gem of a photo from our anonymous donor shows Launceston 12 in Charles St, just north of the junction with Brisbane St.

It looks like the car has just arrived from Trevallyn and is reversing to return there.

I think Launceston was the only tram syatem in Australia to use swivel head trolley poles.

The pole certainly looks odd sitting on the 'wrong wire' but that's exactly what one does to reverse with these poles.

The Trevallyn line was closed in March 1947 - so this photo has to be before that date.
