We may have differing views on what the central area of Roma is, but it has long puzzled me that while trolley bus wires are not allowed around Termini, tram routes 5 and 14 terminate there, and all Roma tram routes use overhead wires. I'd also regard the fairly new tram route 2 as being quite central, and a lot of route 3 which goes past the Colosseum -- I have yet to see that view in a tourism photo :-)

Didn't route 3, perhaps in some other guise -- run all the way to the Vatican? It seems to terminate short of there now, while route 19 goes to the Vatican. IIRC these are the remnants of some former great circular line,.
