NoNorfolk Island Tram
  Richard Youl

Some weeks ago one of the astute researchers on TDU discovered the pay rate for a tram driver on this island.

However having covered many of the roads, I had been unable to see hide nor hair of any trace of a tramway here. Even the ship unloading wharves manage solely with rubber tyred vehicles.

In fact there is no public omnibus service and apparently just one taxi! No wonder package holidays include a hire car.

However older NSW readers here will be familiar with the ‘Traffic Dome’, more usually called a ‘Silent Cop’. The lane markings make their purpose fairly clear. This is just one of at least 3.

You will receive this via the miracle of Norfolk Telecom’s 2G network, costing the tourist $20 for 5 hours unlimited data over a number of weeks, if you can stretch it out that long.

Regards,
