If they do their job competently they get paid their salary, if they don’t they get financially penalised or sacked - that’s how it works for the frontline workers who actually do something useful.

Back in 2002 I got asked to give up holiday time and return to work for a week to do urgent repairs on signal equipment burned out by a bushfire near Waterfall.

No bonus for that, only a letter acknowledging the work done and holiday time credited for the days worked, despite the disruption and inconvenience.

Just shows the really redundant featherbedded bludgers are, as always, the management.
