If the buses on the O-Bahn don't require block working, why should the trams need it?

Remember the trams would be larger than the buses and so would, to accommodate the same
number of passengers, be a bit farther apart. No need for block signalling - the tram
should be treated as a "bus on rails".

I don't think institutional memory about single-truckers was lost Mark, it's just that
accountants took over from engineers. Single-truckers are cheaper to build because the
trucks are fixed and there are less of them.

Thank you for your observations about Citadis performance on the light rail. I think the
similar situation also applies on IWLR, which means both the Sydney and Adelaide lines are
always going to have that journey-time limitation until the day they buy proper bogie
trams, if ever.

I think the residents of NE Adelaide are going to be forever grateful that O Bahn was
chosen for their corridor as its success is very much the result of speed - and frequency,
which trams couldn't deliver in the catch 22 between speed and the restrictions of block
working.

Journey time, the forgotten Cinderella of Australian public transport, except for the
lucky citizens of NE Adelaide, Perth, Gold Coast and regional Victoria.
