A lot of Sydney track was left off centre in main roads when they were widened, and relocation work continued into the 50s. Also, a lot of track was relaid along the route of the royal tour in the early 50s to “tidy things up”, and in a few places track was relaid late in the piece because existing track was so worn out it had become a derailment hazard. There is concreted track buried in New Canterbury Rd, Petersham and Dulwich Hill, that saw about four years use before being abandoned in 1957.
