The Geelong bogie cars certainly had longer poles than their Ballarat and Bendigo equivelenrts. Single trucker poles are generally longer (average 15 feet) than bogie ones (average 13 feet), and especially in Ballarat, one could always tell the difference when a trucker pole was used on a bogie car by the amount of overhang past the trolley hook.

It is possible that Geelong poles were all the same length for compatibility purposes. Additionally geelong trolley wheels had a slightly different "V" shape to the usual "U" shape used on the two other provincial systems.
