The forensic profile on the Melbourne accident is that it's an E53, about 15 years old (pre side airbags, thus resulting in brained occupants in a side impact), typically purchased second-hand for only a few thousand by young enthusiasts not far off their Ps who want to indulge a cheap luxury fantasy and end up in costly poverty - as here I guess! The sort too inexperienced to normally look in the mirror before turning.

If it's any consolation, even "sophisticated" European motorists are often to be seen in this type of encounter with a tram.

At the risk of sounding biassed, it does seem that the large expensive SUVs are rather vulnerable - perhaps indicating an attitude of being big and invulnerable.
