Sydney Trains CAN operate DD's at 25 trains per hour - I regularly seem
them do it.

If people don't have a comfortable ride, they will drive. Then you are
back to the other side of the social engineering coin and trying to
restrict parking to force them back to standing on the trains.

And if the quality of the development at Wolli Creek is any example, the
city is going to be cold and dismal place when the developers have
finished with it.

The mid winter shading at Wolli Creek is terrible. The developments
might look good on paper - but they make sure they only show mid summer
overshadowing and not midwinter.
I walked through Wolli Creek midday a month or so back (near mid
winter, mid day) and the streets were cold, dark wind blown places. The
'open space' the developers had included were all cold and dark. And the
traffic down the 'main' road of the area was terrible. The outdoor
environment is so dismal people just catch the lift down to the car park
and drive out.
