This ABC story about "unsafe" railway stations in Melbourne seems deficient. It interviews a woman who catches a train from Flinders St to Brunswick and says she feels unsafe.

Why doesn't she catch the 19 tram? It is more direct, and carries lots more people,and goes along a busy road.

Heidi Lupprian's commute between Melbourne's CBD and the inner suburb of Brunswick is relatively short, but that doesn't make her feel any safer.
The 26-year-old said feeling uncomfortable had become part of her commute.
"Pretty much every night," she said. "I think most women feel like that though."
An Australian-first study from Monash University backs Ms Lupprian's theory, revealing public transport, particularly train stations, were leaving women feeling uneasy at night.
And Melbourne's iconic Flinders Street Station — the busiest in Australia — was ranked one of the worst.

"It's hard to explain to men I suppose," Ms Lupprian said.
"But when you're walking, feeling like you have to look back or if you notice someone, you can't really see their face so you have to walk faster or make sure you don't walk past them.

"That probably changed it for me," she said.
