Box Hill grass
  Roderick Smith

The grass between the rails on the Box Hill approach was green as at 11.01
this morning (Wed.29.3).
It is real. Trickle-irrigation pipes were installed when the grass was laid.
I don't know if they run from mains water, or if there is a tank somewhere
so that they can be fed from recycled water.
Perhaps they are sprayed at night with recycled water from a road vehicle?

There is no tram in this photo, as there was a long gap in the service. As
I drove back to the waiting computer, A2.300 had just short shunted at the
Mont Albert crossover (replacing the former terminus). It had 'Port
Melbourne' showing on the destination roll, in the correct mixed-case
lettering style for an A. Two Cs in tandem were heading to Box Hill.
