Vintage radios are music to the ears of design fans visiting an NGV
exhibition about 1930s Australia. [possibly transport photos].
Herald Sun July 14, 2017.
LONG before we watched colour TV, many Australians listened to coloured
radios.
National Gallery of Victoria is exhibiting nearly 40 of them, in a new
exhibition about 1930s Australia.
And on Friday, at the opening of Brave New World, seven-year-old Josh
happily ditched his headphones to take in these rainbow-hued bakelite
beauties.
"They're so beautiful, almost like little pieces of architecture,''
co-curator Isobel Crombie said.

The art deco-style tabletop radios in Brave New World come from the
collection of Peter Sheridan and were once hugely popular for tuning in to
serials, sport and quiz shows. "Radio opens a window on the commercial and
cultural landscape of Australia during a time of progress and change,''
Sheridan said.
Brave New World, at NGV Australia until October 15, spans painting,
sculpture, photography, film and design.

14.7: Re 13.7, in recognition of the inconvenience our passengers
experienced we're issuing an automatic refund to those affected Passenger
Disruption Refunds.
On the afternoon of Thursday 13 July metropolitan train services were
disrupted by an issue with our train control computer system, which
prevented us from safely running trains across the network.
In recognition of the inconvenience our passengers experienced, we will be
issuing an automatic refund to those who were affected.
Passengers that touched on in the metropolitan train network between 3pm and
7pm will be reimbursed for the cost of their two-hour fare.
Both myki money and myki pass passengers travelling on a full fare will be
reimbursed $4.10 and concession travellers will receive $2.05.
These refunds will be processed automatically over the next 30 days -
passengers do not need to fill out an application form.
I have a myki pass, will I receive a refund?
Passengers with a myki pass can use the refunded myki balance on their next
myki pass or by travelling with myki money.
Do I have to fill in a form or apply to get a refund?
No, refunds will be automatically added to the myki money balance of their
myki card.
So which myki cards will receive this refund?
Passengers who were affected by the disruption on the metropolitan train
network between 3pm and 7pm yesterday will receive refunds. This will
automatically be added to their myki balance in the coming weeks.
Passengers that require more information should contact our call centre on
1800 800 007.
