Hi Matthew,

As one of the original founders of Haddon, your last statement is totally correct. The first thing we did was to purchase the property on which the sheds could be built. We actually purchased the property off the local shire president, who later paid agistment to graze his sheep on it! This was the butt of several rather sarcastic jokes for some time, which went along the lines of 'a tram museum with sheep as the only passengers'. These jokes emanated from certain persons who later had to cut back on the sarcasm due to the rapid progress we made! Of course, Haddon is now a premium museum thanks to the hard work of Tony Smith (and several others), who continued on with its establishment after some of us had departed.

Cheers,

Andrew.

He was using some one elses depot space and when that some one else
wanted their space back.

While Transport Bureaucracy is involved in this one, any landlord
could decide to terminate their lease/rent agreements at any time.

Even if his trams were in a privately owned warehouse, the same thing
could have happened if the landlord sold up or changed their mind.

The only 'safe' option is to OWN your own suitable property with a large
shed on it.
