RE: Westinghouse controllers [Was: Another Geelong gem]
  Tim

Another WH car was PMTT 84 (a James Moore car) later Bendigo 16 later Bendigo 84. It was converted to GE K35 in 2010 as part of its refurbishment.

The WH controller must have been in poor condition, as insulating gloves were used whenever it needed to be moved.

From what I remember from visiting Ballarat, there were a few WH equipped cars there too.

Tim

Ta for the info, Mal and Tim.

Looking back at Sydney, Westinghouse was a minority brand, with only the thirty odd P cars with AL-PC control coming to mind as having it. Until the Rs and R1s with EE controllers arrived it was nearly all GE.

I think it was mostly used as such due to the piston type manual lap brake valve it had compared to no 25's slide valve.
