GCLR 2 Mini Update 23.5.17
  Richard Youl

In the early hours of this morning, the power substation was delivered to its location beside the current end of Greenacre Drive Arundel, a few km away from Helensvale railway station. Being not keen to witness the delivery in the dark around 4am, 11.30 had to suffice.

Photo 1 shows it in place, a surprisingly long distance from the line itself which is on the far side of the noise barrier. It looks like installation work is under way already.

A future tram stop will be somewhere there as well.

Photo 2. Standing on the level crossing of Napper Rd. Smith St is on the left, Gold Coast rail line in the background.

A week ago the track was hundreds of metes short of this location. By Friday morning the right track was in place to here, no sign of the left track. So it was completed to here on Monday, Friday and Saturday having been lost due to about 70mm of rain.

Looking in the opposite direction on the Napper Rd crossing, PARKWOOD tram stop is taking place in the foreground. Any former Berlin residents in the adjoining homes will feel right at home with the Berlin Wall replica at their back fences.

Regards.
