Re: Toxic substation at Lewisham

When the asbestos in Chinese vehicles and locomotives was discovered the response from the manufacturers and distributors was that in China “white” chrysotile asbestos wasn't “real” asbestos, only the nasty brown and blue stuff was dangerous.

That’s bullshit of course, and it has also been found post ban in imported building materials from both China and India, turning up so far in high rise apartments in Melbourne and a new hospital in Perth. I reckon all this shonky high rise going up in Sydney will be full of it too. As for the warnings, if it’s as you think they’re covering their arses, but the signs only appeared in the last week or so at Lewisham.

As for the 15km/h through points, it’s both facing and trailing points that have it, and judging by the position of the “temporary” speed boards it’s the frog crossings they’re concerned about, not the switches, as the boards are usually opposite the frog. As you say, the reason for it remains a mystery - it was imposed after weekend trackwork closedowns last November.
