While it is feasible for me to stop off at a local supermarket to pick
up a few grocery items on the way home, I am a bit daunted at the
prospect of getting most of Ikea's flat packs in to a bus.

The bus service might be useful for those with a taste for meat balls.

The tram route continued past Tempe Depot and terminated at Cooks
River, and the terminus was called Cooks River.

Depends on definition of difficult. As a child my Grandmother would
often take me to Roselands in the school holidays - by bus from
Campsie.
(I can't remember if it was train + bus or just bus).
I'd then get a ride on the roof top garden railway.

Of course this bus could have stopped running a couple of decades
back....

The chain that gets me is Ikea. All this PR how they are mean and
green
company, looking out for environment, etc, etc. Look at their home
delivery charges. It's obvious their target market are people who own
cars. It's cheaper for me to hire a ute from the local Avis than use
the
Ikea delivery service.
There is a bus stop out side our nearest Ikea (Tempe), but it's by
accident :-)
Actually I think that bus route is a former tram route - and the bus
stop is probably located where it is, as that was a tram stop on the
route to Tempe depot.
