Last time I was out along Allison Rd, they were pulling those out where
the slab was almost complete. The sheet-piles were installed to hold the
soil (mostly sand) back while they dug that deep hole for the track bed.

Once the concrete is back to 'ground level' they are not needed any more
and come out. If nothing else, sheet steel that thick is worth a lot of
money - the contractor isn't going to leave em behind.
