I was rostered on at Bylands today and, as usual, wandered around the
site in some free time to look at what's there.

I came across the pictured piece of special work amongst the pile of
point blades etc at Bylands.

It looks very much like the latest style of what Greg King calls 'heel
less point' - there no pivot at the heel end, but the point blade simply
relies on the fexibility of steel.

So, as someone who spent a long time absent from Bylands, I wonder where
it came from and how it ended up at Bylands.
There's not any visible wear, so perhaps it's an MMTB / PTC experiment
that never went into service.
