Hi all

Here are a few Brisbane trolley bus photos from my July 1965 visit, to add to those sent by Richard.

Trolleybus 35 in Elizabeth Street outbound to Stanley Bridge

Trolleybus 1 in Albert Street at Adelaide Street on a Gardens to Gregory Terrace service.

Trolleybus 33 inbound from Carina crossing the railway line near Stanley Bridge.

Trolleybus 6 leaving Storey Bridge near the Valley, inbound from Carina.

It was a great period to be in Brisbane, with trams, trolleybuses and steam hauled suburban rail passenger services.

The suburban rail system was the main beneficiary of the conversion from trams to buses as it seems that most tram passengers shunned the buses and with rail electrification, the system increased service frequency and prospered.

It just goes to show what can happen when the wrong people take control of a transport system and impose their warped views on the community.

Richard kindly emailed me the two photos I can not see in the TDU photo archive.

13b is the Gregory Terrace terminus of route 23 in Wickam Terrace just past its intersection with Gregory Terrace and College Road.

Interestingly, Gregory Tce was wired for its entire length but only used for depot trips.

13c is travelling inbound from Seven Hills 8a and is a long way from Carina, but on the part of the route also used by Carina 8c. Possibly in McIlwraith St.
